Summary of Curriculum Vitae of Prof. Andrew Wade: Hydrologist/Water Quality Modeller involved in pollution issues associated with European river systems, including nutrient transport and retention.
Full Name
Prof. Andrew John Wade
Year of Birth
1972
Nationality
British
Profession
Hydrologist/Water Quality Modeller
Range of Experience
Prof. Wade has extensive experience of the pollution issues associated with European river systems, including nutrient transport and retention, the ecological response to nutrient loading and upland acidification. He is a hydrological and water quality modeller, who is leading the model development within the European Union 6th Framework project, Euro-limpacs. He was the co-ordinator of a European Union 5th Framework water quality project, EU-INCA and has published widely on the subject of water quality modelling. He was also the co-developer of the INCA model, which is now used extensively by European scientists to assess nitrogen dynamics in catchments. Prof. Wade is competent in the use of Geographical Information Systems and Relational Databases, and is currently developing the INCA framework to model phosphorus dynamics in river systems.

Recent Work
  • Project management of a European Union 5th Framework funded, water quality project designed to assess and simulate nitrogen dynamics in river and wetland systems under changed land use, climate and economic scenarios.
  • Development of dynamic flow and water quality models of river systems, including the distributed models of nitrogen and phosphorus, INCA-N and INCA-P (funded by the European Union, the Environment Agency and the Natural Environment Research Council.
  • Modelling the ecological response to phosphorus concentrations in river systems (funded by the Environment Agency and the Natural Environment Research Council).
  • Modelling acidification in upland catchments under deposition and afforestation scenarios using the MAGIC model and a new methodology to integrate the hydrochemical response in the River Dee, Scotland (funded by the Scottish Office and the Natural Environment Research Council).
  • Steering Committee member and work package leader on a EU funded 6th Framework Integrated Project, Euro-limpacs which aims to determine the likely impacts of land use, climate and deposition change on European ecosystem health.
  • Modelling the hydrology and salinity of the River Jordan.
