Dr. Herbert is a geotechnician and a hydrogeologist with 35 years of experience working overseas and in the UK. He has worked on the provision of groundwater resources for major irrigation schemes and for rural water supply & sanitation schemes. He led a British Geological Survey team in the making of a CDROM-based manual for the development of unconsolidated aquifers. He also helped with a study of crystalline basement aquifers which underlay much of the developing world. Earlier he led an INDO/BRITISH study of the Deccan Trapps, volcanic aquifers, which cover 30% of the Indian continent. Other resource studies were made of the Karkhe & Hari Rud watersheds in Iran & Afghanistan. Recently he led the development of collector & scavenger wells, also the application of hydraulic fracturing to water supply boreholes in Africa. Early in his career he designed and supervised many groundwater control schemes in the UK. He is the author of over 50 international papers. |
