HERMES

HERMES is a river water quality model with aggregated dead zone analysis.

HERMES may be used to investigate the impact of point source pollution entering any river system. The model simulates a flow and wide range of water quality variables including conservative pollutants, dissolved oxygen, BOD, Ammonia and E. Coli bacteria. The model is dynamic in that the day to day (or hour to hour) variattions in flow and quality can be investigated following a discharge of pollutant into a river system.

HERMES models the dilution and natural decay processes that take place in the river as well as the complex interaction between the variables.

In addition to pollution incident modelling, HERMES can be used to study the impact on the environment of a wide range of manmade influences, in scientific investigations and, due to its simplicity of operation, as an educational tool.

HERMES runs under DOS. A Windows 95/NT version is under development.
